The GyDB is a manually refined repository of genetic sequences of viruses, related host genes, and mobile genetic elements (MGEs), that has been implemented in an open editable format so all researchers can keep expanding the topics of study by contributing with their knowledge and findings. Our long term goal is to provide the scientific community with a tool that allows the analysis and classification of all the non-redundant diversity of MGEs in the context of the tree of life, based on their evolutionary profiles. We encourage everyone to share their data to contribute to the building of an even bigger scientific network.

Meanwhile, we will keep maintaining the database in its best shape so it is of best use to everyone. With your help, you will contribute to our efforts to improve it everyday, while helping us share its potential. Every little contribution helps. Thank you for supporting science.

'''What will my donation go towards?'''

The GyDB is maintained by our IT infrastructure and the technicians behind it. The addition of any new information to the database is carefully reviewed and curated by our research team. By donating, you will help us maintain both the IT infrastructure and the human resources keeping it in shape.
